19-year-old charged in Hames Trace homicide, police say

A 19-year-old is in custody, one week after a shooting at a Fern Creek apartment complex left a man dead.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Police have made an arrest nearly a week after a man was shot and killed at a Fern Creek apartment complex.

Police say 19-year-old Yacir Raful Jr. was charged with murder in the death of 21-year-old Gregory Norris.

The incident took place in the 5300 block of Hames Trace at the Park at Hurstbourne Apartments on July 9.

According to a report, Raful told police he was meeting Norris for a narcotics transaction. They say at some point during the transaction, an altercation took place which Norris was shot multiple times.

Police say Raful made statements implicating the other person who was with him as being the shooter but said he left the scene with the drugs.

Rafur and the other unidentified suspect left the scene with the gun. It was never recovered.

The investigation is ongoing.
