CENTRAL KENTUCKY (WHAS11) -- An Indianapolis man was found not guilty by reason of insanity in the 2015 death of a young Central Kentucky boy.

After 12 hours of deliberation, a jury found Ronald Exantus guilty, but mentally ill on assault charges.

Police say Exantus drove from Indianapolis to Versailles and broke into the home of 6-year-old Logan Tipton. That is when the Tipton was then stabbed to death.

While the defense admitted Exantus committed the crime, they argued he was suffering from a psychotic break when it happened.

The sentencing phase of the trial is expected to begin on Tuesday.
