LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A man is facing charges after police say he opened fire on an officer with an air rifle.
According to arrest records, police were called to a home after 68-year-old Oscar Walters allegedly hit his wife over the head with a flashlight multiple times causing severe injury.
Police say three officers went to the front door to talk with Walters.
That’s when they say he shot at officers with an air rifle, shattering the glass on the front door.
Police say Walters then came out of the home but resisted arrest.
After a struggle, police were able to take him into custody.
One officer suffered a fractured hand during the struggle. Police say the injury will require surgery.
Walters is facing multiple charges including wanton endangerment of a police officer, assault of a police officer and domestic assault.
He’s being held on a $100,000 bond and is expected in court on April 10.
