Hepatitis outbreak reaches more than 100 cases in Jefferson Co., Ky.

Health Dept. officials say the outbreak is centered around homeless and drug users.

LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) -- Louisville's Department of Health and Wellness confirms the hepatitis outbreak in Jefferson County has reached 115 cases since November.

The new number also comes as the Kroger on Dixie Highway announced one of its employees was diagnosed with the disease that affects your liver.

The homeless and drug-users are at a higher risk of exposure, health experts said.

The Department of Health and Wellness has given more than 5,700 immunizations at homeless shelters, camps, and syringe exchange sites to help reduce the spread of hepatitis A.
