No one hurt after car crashes into apartment building causing fire in Portland neighborhood

Officials with Louisville Fire Department said it happened near North 24th and West Main Street just before 2 p.m. Sunday.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Authorities are investigating a crash that ended in an apartment building fire in the Portland neighborhood.

The Louisville Fire Department responded to the 2400 block of West Main Street just before 2 p.m. Sunday.

Fire crews had arrived at the scene to find a fire at a two-story apartment building that had been hit by a car involved in a crash. Officials with the fire department said the vehicle hit gas and electric meters on the building.

No one was inside the apartment building at the time of the crash.

It took 25 firefighters 13 minutes to get the fire under control.

LFD said their hazmat unit to help monitor the area while LG&E work on shutting off the gas.

No injuries were reported.

It's unclear what caused the initial crash.
