Man found dead in Green River Lake in Kentucky

Campbellsville Fire & Rescue officials found a deceased man and his vehicle Sunday in a Kentucky lake.

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — A man was found dead Sunday in Green River Lake in Campbellsville, Kentucky.

At about 6 p.m., Campbellsville Fire & Rescue responded to a report of a person in distress in the water, according to a Campbellsville Fire & Rescue Facebook post.

Firefighters on scene found that a man who was approximately 69 years old was missing in the water. His vehicle was also in the water.

Three public safety divers entered the water and immediately began searching for the missing man. He was found at about 7 p.m. approximately 110 feet from the ramp and 15 feet below the surface.

Campbellsville-Taylor County EMS pronounced the man dead. At about 8 p.m., his vehicle was recovered from the water.

It is unclear what caused the man's death at the time of this writing. Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Law Enforcement and Taylor County Coroner's Office is investigating the incident.
