Fire damages historic home in Middletown

No injuries have been reported.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A large historic home that once housed some well-known Louisville restaurants in Eastern Jefferson County went up in flames this afternoon.

Firefighters from Middletown and other departments on the scene along Shelbyville Road near the Valhalla Golf Club. They have been there for several hours and the fire is now contained.

No one was injured.

The building in such bad shape firefighters did not enter it.

The building has been sitting vacant for years. It once housed the Trattoria Mattei restaurant, and then it became the Veranda and the Lanai.
