House fire in west Louisville displaces 3 adults, 3 dogs and 1 child

It took 25 firefighters approximately 15 minutes to gain control of the house fire.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Three adults, three dogs and one child are displaced after a house fire Friday morning in Louisville's Portland neighborhood.

At about 5 a.m., Louisville Fire Department crews were dispatched to reports of a residential structure fire in the 3300 block of Alford Avenue, according to an LFD news release.

Firefighters arrived on scene within three minutes of receiving the call and found a single-story residential home "fully-involved" in fire.

Crews worked to extinguish the flames while searching for occupants of the home. Firefighters didn't find anyone while searching the home because all occupants had self-evacuated, fire officials say.

It took 25 firefighters approximately 15 minutes to gain control of the house fire. One person who lived in the house was transported to a local hospital. Officials believe they will survive.

The American Red Cross is assisting with the displacement of of three adults, one child and three dogs.

LFD Arson is investigating the cause of the fire.
