LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) -- Kentucky's Attorney General is appointing a special prosecutor to review the actions of a former Louisville Metro Police Department homicide detective.
Former detective Mark Handy investigated two cases where men said they were wrongly convicted of murder.
In both cases the murder convictions were overturned.
The Louisville Metro Council asked the AG to have a special prosecutor review Handy's practices in the investigations, to see if the cases were handled improperly.
Metro Police already conducted an investigation into Handy. The Commonwealth's Attorney for Jefferson County declined to take the case to the grand jury.
