The lane will stay closed until an excavator can remove the rest of the debris, which won't happen until the sun comes up.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — An overnight accident has shut down the right lane and right shoulder of I-71 in Henry County.

Around 1 a.m., a semi crashed on I-71N at the 39-mile marker, which is between Campbellsburg and the Kentucky River. The semi caught on fire during the accident.

Fire crews were able to put out the fire, but the burned remains of the semi are stuck on the interstate until an excavator can be brought to the scene. According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, that won't happen until daylight.

Until then, the slow lane and right shoulder of I-71N will be closed. State Highway has signs set up for detour information.
