LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Flooding issues are now ending after the significant issues along the river over the past couple weeks.
McAlpine Upper crested above 35 feet, the highest level in two decades for Louisville. At 35.6 feet, a crest appeared to occur around midday Monday, February 26th.
A crest of around 67.1 feet appeared to occur Monday, February 26th on McAlpine Lower. For this location, that would be the 12th highest flood of record.

In a four day period in mid February, 4 to up to localized 8 inches of rain caused area rivers, creeks and streams to rise out of their banks.

This flood event rivaled but fell just short of the 38 foot crest in 1997.
The last Ohio River flood event in Louisville was in March 2015, when the river rose to 29 feet on the upper gauge.
The record flood on the Ohio River was in 1937, before the flood wall protection system was developed in Louisville. Catastrophic flooding resulted from a river level of 52 feet, some 40 feet over today's normal pool.
