List: Hold on for 'deer' life Kentuckiana, here come the holiday events

Whether you like chilling with your 'snowmies', or you're just there for the food, there's a little something for everyone happening this year in Kentuckiana.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — From twinkling lights to hot cocoa, there's more than one way to spread some holiday cheer around Kentuckiana.

Christmas Cookie Stroll

If baked goods are more your style, check out the Christmas Cookie Stroll in downtown Jeffersonville. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, walk around Jeffersonville and explore the city, all while collecting cookies from participating small businesses and restaurants.

Tickets are $13, and organizers ask that participants bring a canned good for the Center for Lay Ministries.

Holiday Trolley Hop: Skate, Dine, & Shop

Have you ever wanted to ride on a trolley? Now you can in downtown Jeffersonville. On Dec. 2, Dec 9, and Dec 16, you can ride the trolley for free to help you get around downtown Jeffersonville to help with that holiday shopping.

The whole loop is about 15 minutes and runs from noon to 6 p.m. according to the website.

Light Up Louisville

It's a sure sign of the holiday season; Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg announced the plans for the 43rd annual Light Up Louisville celebration.

The celebration moved to Saturday, Dec. 2 this year.

The fun will kick off at 4 p.m. with holiday crafts and treats on 6th and Jefferson Streets according to Louisville Metro's website.

Then at 6 p.m. the Lots of Lights parade begins on Jefferson Street, with Frosty the Snowman as the grand marshal. Santa Claus and Greenberg will officially light the 45 foot tall city Christmas tree and Light Up Louisville around 7:45 p.m. The Downtown Holiday Market will take place at 4th and Jefferson Streets, and takes place from 2 to 9 p.m. as well according to Louisville Metro's website.

There are going to be two stages at the event: the Main Stage and the Jingle Stage.

Light Up St. Matthews

The Chamber of St. Matthews and the City of St. Matthews are presenting Light Up St. Matthews from 3-6 p.m. Dec. 2 at Brown Park, located at the corner of Kresge Way and Browns Lane, next to Baptist Health Louisville.

Officials said the annual holiday event has been redesigned to create an event that "flows throughout the front of the park" and includes entertainment, letters to Santa, pictures with Santa, various arts and craft stations, train rides, an inflatable snow globe, and two DJs. This is an all ages, rain or shine event. 

There will be free cookies and hot chocolate while supplies last.

Louisville Chorus' Canticles of Christmas

If your favorite part of the holiday season is the music, you'll probably enjoy the Louisville Chorus' Canticles of Christmas. This annual production has everything from familiar carols to classic Christmas anthems, only on Sunday, Dec. 17 at 3 p.m.

Yuletide

The Yew Dell Botanical Gardens in Crestwood, Kentucky are hosting their Yuletide event several times between Nov. 26 and Dec. 16. The event focuses "on traditional family fun with a whimsical train village, sparkling lights and décor, Holiday Trees, food and beverage options, a takeaway craft, and Santa!"

West Louisville Holiday Festival

The annual festival is in its 11 year; doors open at 11 a.m. but it runs from noon to 4 p.m. Any visitors will be able to personalize some ornaments, and the Claus's have filled some stockings with goodies.

There will be live entertainment from the Jefferson County Public School's Orchestras, dance teams and The Real Young Prodigies.

Gardens Aglimmer

The Waterfront Botanical Gardens are hosting its annual Gardens Aglimmer. Now in it's third year, they hope this holiday experience brings people to the Botanical Gardens that maybe wouldn't stop by.

Lights will fill the gardens and highlight the different flora and fauna.

The event starts on Thursday, Dec. 14 and runs until Dec. 23. It will then run for a few more days after Christmas.
