Louisville Orchestra announces new season after GRAMMY win

"A Season of Unparalleled Musical Journeys" promises to showcase the group's versatility and artistic brilliance.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Fresh off a GRAMMY Award win, the Louisville Orchestra announced its upcoming season and all the chances you'll get to see this award-winning group of musicians perform over the next few months.

The orchestra's 2024-2025 season lineup is titled "A Season of Unparalleled Musical Journeys."

It promises to showcase the group's versatility and artistic brilliance under the leadership of Music Director Teddy Abrams and Chief Executive Graham Parker.

"While each program on our season explores powerful and profound narratives and subtexts, every concert will be a celebration of our orchestra, of Louisville, and or the universality of music itself," Abrams said.

Season packages for each series are available now. Individual show tickets will go on sale later this year.

Here's a look at this year's season lineup:

Classics Series

The series will include performances of Holst's "The Planets", "Carmina Burana" featuring a mega choir, ""Der Kaiser Von Atlantis" and "An Alpine Symphony." 

It also includes some of the most beloved concertos performed by world-renowned guest artists like Ray Chen, Midori and Louis Lortie.

The season concludes with the second annual Creators Fest featuring world premiers by LO's Creators Corps Composers Baldwin Giang, Brittany Green and Oswald Huynh.

Coffee Series

Enjoy the orchestra's Classic Series in a more casual, daytime setting -- complete with free coffee! 

NightLites Series

This series, at the Ogle Center at Indiana University Southeast features four events:

  • 'Star Trek: A Musical Voyage Through The Stars,' a symphonic journey to the stars.
  • Handel's 'Messiah,' a timeless choral masterpiece.
  • 'Time For Three,' where classical meets modern in a unique string performance.
  • Stravinsky's 'Firebird,' a captivating ballet score.

Pops Series

The orchestra's Pops series is led by Maestro Bob Bernhardt and promises to be an eclectic mix of nostalgia and innovations.

It includes performances of "Rick Steves' Europe", featuring Rick Steves himself who will take audiences on "an auditory and visual tour of Europe through music." 

There will also be tribute nights dedicated to the 80s and 90s featuring the vocal talents from O-Town, NSYNC, and 98 Degrees.

Film Series

Those who love film and music, prepare for screenings of timeless classics with live orchestral accompaniment. It includes:

  • "Nosferatu", featuring the orchestra's new original score.
  • "The Nightmare Before Christmas"
  • "Raiders of the Lost Ark"
  • "Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 1 and Part 2"
