In a move that seemingly everyone saw coming (following their impressive scores in the qualification rounds) Team USA took home their first back-to-back gold in team gymnastics, after also winning at the 2012 Olympics in London. Russia claimed silver with a score of 176.688, and China won bronze with a total of 176.003 points.

Biles started the team off strong with a soaring performance on the vault, earning no penalties on her score. Later, Biles, Douglas, and Kocian all delivered solid performances on the uneven bars, the second round of their rotation, giving Team USA a lead of four points. After a small stumble by Raisman on the balance beam, the team quickly recovered with strong performances on the beam by Hernandez and Biles. Raisman, Hernandez and Biles all returned to compete in the floor exercise, delivering explosive routines that earned their team the top spot, and secured the gold.

"Back-to-back #GOLD for the first time EVER," NBC tweeted as the "Final Five" claimed victory.
