Festival of Trees & Lights returns to Louisville Slugger Field

The event will have cookie decorating, a latke baking competition, a "snow ball" fight and photo opportunities with Santa.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Louisville tradition that melds two holidays is returning to Slugger Field in November and the money made at this event is going toward a good cause.

The 34th annual Festival of Trees & Lights kicks off on Friday, Nov. 10 and ends Sunday, Nov. 12. All proceeds go toward Norton Children's Hospital.

Guests will walk through hundreds of beautifully decorated tress, wreaths and handcrafted holiday items designed by local artists available for purchase.

Families can celebrate Christmas at this festival by enjoying free entertainment acts, grabbing some snacks from the Sweet Shop, and shopping for holiday items at the Gift Shop.

There will also be free activities for children; including, cookie decorating, holiday crafts, pictures with Santa Claus, train rides and a model train.

Families can explore an outdoor area called "Elf Town" which features an inflatable obstacle course, a "snow ball" fight and make-your-own reindeer food. Admission for Elf Town costs $2 per person.

For families who want to celebrate Hanukkah, the "Lights" area will honor Jewish traditions with menorahs and artwork.

For the first time this year, there will be a latke competition. Competitors will cook up their best potato pancakes or fritters on Nov. 12.

Also on Sunday, the Lights area will feature demonstrations of the dreidel game and how to light a menorah. Later that day, guests can enjoy a special story time and a dreidel and gelt (chocolate coins) giveaway.

The festivities at Slugger Field run Friday, Nov. 10 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 11 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

General admission tickets are $15 per person and $10 for children ages 12 and under and seniors ages 65 and older. Admission is free for children age 2 and under. Purchase tickets online here.
