LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Yes, it's real. Slayer has officially reunited.
The iconic thrash metal band announced their first shows after splitting up five years ago. The shows will take place later this year at Riot Fest and Louder Than Life.
Slayer played their final show at The Forum in Inglewood, California on Nov. 30, 2019. The California-based band had a lengthy farewell tour, which kicked off in May 2018 and spanned over 150 shows in 30 countries and 40 states.
"It gets you when you least expect it," the iconic rock band posted on Instagram, with a video of them performing and a poster for both Riot Fest and Louder Than Life.
Riot Fest will take place in Chicago, Illinois. from Sept. 20-22. Slayer will perform on Sunday, Sept 22, and it will mark their return to the stage.
Then, Slayer will headline Louder Than Life alongside Slipknot, Mötley Crüe and Korn.
America's largest rock festival will be back at the Kentucky Expo Center in Louisville, Kentucky from Sept. 26-29. Slayer will perform on Friday, Sept. 27.
"We're thrilled to announce that Slayer will be reuniting for an earth-shattering performance at Louder Than Life,” Danny Wimmer, of Danny Wimmer Presents, said. ”I was at their last show at The Forum in 2019 and have been working since then to bring them back to the Louder stage!"
At this time, it's unknown if they have any more shows lined up for the year.
