LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The411: With so much talent in the area, have you ever wondered how some of them got into the music industry? From the interviews I’ve conducted over the years, some of the artists would say it's harder to stay in the industry than actually being signed to their original deal.
I’ve learned that one of the best-kept secrets in the music industry, Dorian “King D” Washington, is hosting a Music 101 Workshop on Sunday, October 13.
I had the pleasure of talking to him when he introduced me to Ray J and Princess Love. Washington is not a native of the area but he currently calls it home when he’s not travelling and helping develop the next talented artist. If you’re a true music lover, you'll recognize his name and the work he did with the late Stephen “Static Major” Garrett of Louisville.
On Sunday, Dorian will help you with the ABC’s of music and try to help you understand how a music label works and the expectations from an artist.
The Music 101 workshop is free and it's from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Hard Rock Cafe, located at 424 S. 4th Street in downtown Louisville.
Space is limited so you need to sign up by sending your information to dorian@newwavedistro.com.
