LOUISVILLE, Ky. — While this year's WHAS Crusade for Children will look different because of the coronavirus pandemic, there will be no shortage of entertainment that weekend.
The 67th Crusade for Children will be held virtually on Aug. 8-9 and digital donations can be made through Venmo, Paypal and Alexa Pay. For more information, visit the Crusade for Children website.
While the Crusade will not have its normal variety show, special performances from previous years will be re-aired and WHAS favorites will still appear throughout the weekend to help raise money for children with special needs in Kentucky and Southern Indiana.
Alongside stories of kids who have been helped by the Crusade, performances of past headlines will be featured. Some of the highlights include the late Kenny Rogers, Peabo Bryson and the Kentucky Headhunters.
The WHAS team is also going deep into the archives to share footage from performances by Homer and Jethro in the 1950s and Doc Severinsen in the 60s.
Up and coming local artists who've appeared on the Crusade including EmiSunshine and the Misty Mountain String Band will also get some air time during the broadcast.
If you want to take a trip down memory lane, we've created a Spotify playlist with some of the top hits from these artists.
