LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Famed sculptor Ed Hamilton unveiled his latest statue, a sculpture of the late Humana co-founder David Jones Sr., in Waterfront Park at Humana on Wednesday.
Humana officials, Hamilton, the Jones family and community leaders gathered to honor the late founder and the great philanthropy work he did in the community.
As a friend of Jones, Hamilton was honored to be commissioned.
"That was important, because they could of went to New York and got somebody, California and got somebody," he said. "Sometimes you never profit in your own hometown, you know what I mean. It's a great honor to be asked. For such a powerful person of humanity. To honor that humanity, I'm speechless really."
David Jones Jr. called the Waterfront "Ed Hamilton Way" because he did his father's sculpture as well as the York statue and the sculpture of Abraham Lincoln.
Jones' likeness was installed on the Humana campus in downtown Louisville in March.
