Kentucky Historical Society Discusses the Story Behind Abolitionist John Brown's Portrait

John Brown was an abolitionist that helped enslaved African Americans escape from Kentucky to Ohio for freedom. Shortly after his death in 1859, a portrait was made in his honor by Patrick Henry Davenport that is held in the Kentucky Historical Society Museum in Frankfort, Kentucky.
