Jason Voorhees still haunts Camp Crystal Lake

Crosby, MN. (WHAS11) - The iconic hockey-masked murderer still haunts the depths of Crystal Lake. Well, a statue of him does, at least.

And it isn't Crystal Lake--it's the Louise mine pit in Crosby, Minnesota.

In 2013, experienced diver Doug Klein built a life-size statue of Jason Voorhees, the murder in the film franchise "Friday the 13th." He planted the statue in the Louise mine pit, a popular diving location. In addition to the Jason statue, there are sunken boats, mermaids, various drop-offs and more.

Curtis Lahr, also an experienced diver and a friend of Klein's, visited the statue recently, and his footage of the dive has gone viral.

As far as diving to see him goes, we'll pass. Lahr cautioned divers that searching for Jason is an advanced dive.

"It's very cold, about 38 degrees year-round, and dark," he said. " It's not worth risking injury or death to see him!"

That's just what Jason would want.
