LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Shelby County teenager and Louisville woman were crowned as Miss Earth USA last weekend. The beauty pageant advocates for environmental issues and women's empowerment.
Danielle Mullins, 25, brought home the crown for Kentucky in the Miss Earth USA competition in Orlando, Florida.
Mullins is a professional stylist and makeup artist from Louisville. She will move on to represent the United States at the Miss Earth pageant in Vietnam.
Another Kentucky native, 15-year-old Tayan Stansfield also came back from Orland with a crown after winning the title of Teen Miss Earth USA.
Stansfield is a model, dancer and sophomore at Martha Layne Collins High School and Painted Stone Elementary alum. Her high school posted its congratulations after she won the title.
Her platform of youth empowerment focuses on mental health, confidence and personality.
As winner of Teen Miss Earth USA, she will get to walk in New York Fashion Week and serve as a brand ambassador to Pixton Design Group activewear.
She also receives a minimum $5,000 academic scholarship and community service grant.
