Louisville Zoo's 'Throo the Zoo' date announced; Here's how to register

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Get your running shoes ready, the 5K at the Louisville Zoo is right around the corner.

Kyle Shepherd, a spokesperson for the zoo, said participants in the 'Throo the Zoo' race on Nov. 9 can either run or walk the track.

“We are celebrating over 30 years of this beloved event,” Louisville Zoo director Dan Maloney said. “We can’t wait to see everyone laced up and ready to run or walk with us in November. Thank you to Norton Sports Health for their continued support of the wildest 5K in town!”

The course winds through the exhibits giving participants opportunities to see the animals Shepherd said. This event is also open to participants of all fitness levels.

Costumes for the race are encouraged, and any runners in costume can post their photos to the Louisville Zoo's Facebook post that Saturday.

Shepherd said participants can pick up their packet's in the Zoo's bus parking lot Nov. 8 from noon to 6 p.m.

Registration starts at $35, and will increase to $40 on Oct. 20. Those registering the day of will have to pay $50. You can register online here.

 Anyone who wishes to participate virtually can register for $30 until Oct. 19. The price will increase the next day.
