Kentucky Humane Society hosting emergency 'Empty the Shelters' event to help shelters affected by storms

The adoption event is intended to free up space to help shelters in areas affected by the recent storms.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Kentucky Humane Society in Louisville is hosting an emergency "Empty the Shelters" adoption event to assist shelters affected by the recent storms.

The BISSELL Pet Foundation is partnering with the Kentucky Humane Society, Lexington Humane Society and Bowling Green/Warren County Humane Society to reduce adoption fees between May 31 and June 9.

Every animal adopted will create space to help shelters in weather-impacted areas, most of which must move out adoptable pets to hold pets that need temporary housing.

The KHS Sam Swopt Pet Treatment and Lifesaving Center on Steedly Drive is offering fee-waived adoption fees for dogs one year old or older.
