PIERSON, Fla. — A kangaroo is on the loose after escaping its enclosure in Florida's Volusia County, Sheriff Mike Chitwood shared in a Facebook post.
The kangaroo reportedly escaped after a bear entered the enclosure, located in Pierson, according to the sheriff.
Chitwood shared a post from the Pierson Community Page that showed a photo of the escaped animal on the side of the road.
"Just when you think you’ve seen it all," Chitwood wrote. "The Town of Pierson is hopping tonight."
At this time, the kangaroo is still missing, the sheriff said.
"Not located yet but we have been in contact with the owner and are keeping our eyes peeled," Chitwood said on Facebook.
Meanwhile, a Florida Fish and Wildlife official searching for the animal who spoke with WESH-TV says he doesn't believe the kangaroo could have gone far.
