Kentucky Fish and Wildlife K9 receives donation of bullet-resistant vest

FRANKFORT, Ky. — A Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources Law Enforcement K9 was given a bullet-resistant vest thanks to a charitable donation.

The nonprofit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. donated the $1,800 bullet and stab protective vest to canine conversation officer Cosmo. His new body armor is embroidered with the phrase "Born to Love - Trained to Serve - Loyal Always."

Cosmo is one of three Labrador retriever siblings used to assist conservation officers across The Commonwealth. K9 Gambit was gifted a protective vest back in December.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. aims to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies in the U.S. to potentially save these brave canine's lives.

The charity has provided more than 5,379 vests to K9s in all 50 states at a value of $6.9 million, which is made possible by both private and corporate donations, according to a Kentucky Fish and Wildlife news release.
