Paralyzed goat given second chance at animal sanctuary in Louisville

The little goat named "Roman" is learning to get around after getting a new animal wheelchair at his new Louisville home.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A two-week old baby goat with paralyzed back legs has now found a new home in Louisville with a new mode of transportation.

Roman the goat was abandoned at two days old.

He arrived in Louisville Sunday morning following a 700-mile trip from Kansas City to Butterfly Valley Rescue and Sanctuary which had a wheelchair available for him.

Before, Roman used his front legs to move around and now he can learn how to move around safely with his new wheels.

“It's just not good for their spine and other parts of their body to be in that upright angle that he was at walking on his two legs,” staff member Brandon Feusner said. He'll be in his wheelchair and have the opportunity to make a difference and heal and show people that despite his differences, he can do everything that a normal goat would do.”

Butterfly Valley Rescue and Sanctuary is based in Louisville and provides care for animals in need, especially those with special needs, like Roman.
