LOUISVILLE, Ky. — One of the Louisville Zoo's most beloved animals is back in a new exhibit, just in time for his May 23 birthday.
According to zoo officials, Sundara, who is known most affectionately as Sunny D, will now call the Linnaeus’s two-toed sloths — Fern, Sunni and Sebastian — his neighbors.
Sunny D's new exhibit has plenty of opportunities for him to climb, nap and explore, while also offering ample space to potentially house multiple red pandas in the future.
“With this new habitat, the Louisville Zoo continues its commitment to the care and conservation of endangered species like the red panda by not only providing a nurturing environment for Sunny D, but also the opportunity for potential offspring," Director Dan Maloney said.
The zoo is also planning an "immersive behind-the-scenes experience" with red pandas that include log training stations for VIP encounters and daily keeper chats.
