His Place Eatery is the second Indianapolis restaurant to be featured on "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" recently. Pa and Ma's Backyard BBQ made its debut on the show Friday, Oct. 4.
"The idea to start his place eatery was to take soul food and to put a twist on it, but also to the easiest way I say it is to take soul food and to the old way I used to say it is to put a chef's hat on it," said Jones.
Over the summer, they opened a second location.
"The response for us has been really, really great" said Jones.
Now, their restaurant is set to be featured on the Food Network show "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives."
"We were just really, really over the moon, excited." said Jones
However, Jones says it took weeks of emails back and forth with the shows producers.
"All of a sudden you get a call out of the blue and like, hey, congratulations, you guys have been selected" said Jones.
Chef Jones says Food Network told them they will likely have a spike in business afterwards, but they hope that spike stays.
"We're hoping is that, of course, we get that increase in business, but more importantly, that we're able to continue to give people great service, great food consistently, " said Jones.
The show airs Friday, Oct. 11 at 9 p.m. on Food Network!
