KENTUCKY, USA — Picture this: it's Thanksgiving Day.
You've got an empty stomach and an even emptier plate. As you're hovering over this year's offerings, and you walk right past the typically dry, sad turkey and you're face-to-face with the true main event: the side dishes.
Which side are you going for? Is it the same side others in Kentucky would reach for?
Thankfully, Google put together a map of uniquely searched Thanksgiving side dishes over the past week, revealing which side dishes are most popular, and in which states.
This year, Kentuckians searched for green bean casserole the most on Google. Typically, this holiday favorite is made with fresh green beans, a creamy, homemade mushroom sauce and is topped with French-fried onions.
Some other popular searches for side dishes throughout the country were corn casserole, sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes and stuffing.
Google also determined what is each state's favorite uniquely searched Thanksgiving baked good over the past week. Kentucky was the only state to choose "pumpkin roll."
Some more common baked goods U.S. states searched for were cornbread, cheesecake, apple pie, pumpkin pie and pecan pie.
Interestingly enough, Kentucky, Mississippi, Alabama and West Virginia were the only states searching "sweet potato casserole" more than "green bean casserole" in the last week.
