This steakhouse at Churchill Downs says it's no longer operating as a 'standalone restaurant'

A message on the steakhouse's website said they will "shift to elevated dining."

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Four years after making its debut at Churchill Downs, Matt Winn’s Steakhouse said it is undergoing changes.

According to its website, they will shift to elevated dining for premium live race dates and will also offer a “unique, luxury setting” for private events, celebrations and corporate functions.

“While we will no longer operate as a standalone restaurant, we look forward to creating extraordinary experiences for our guests on the most special of occasions while continuing to showcase unparalleled hospitality,” a statement read on the Matt Winn’s Steakhouse website.

The steakhouse first opened in November 2020.

The restaurant is described as “fine dining offering with a three-coursed, curated menu complimented by a luxury bar experience in a traditionally elegant dining room with a relaxed ambiance.”

The culinary staple is named after former Churchill Downs President Matt Winn who is responsible for bringing pomp and circumstance to horseracing during the first part of the 20th century. The racing enthusiast is said to have made the Kentucky Derby the most prominent horse race in America.

Matt Winn's Steakhouse is located at 750 Central Avenue inside Churchill Downs.
