Veterans Day 2023 | List of Kentuckiana businesses offering discounts, freebies

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Every year, the nation celebrates Veterans Day to honor those who have or currently serve in the U.S. military.

With that comes restaurants and businesses offering a token of their appreciation, with discounts and freebies.

Keep in mind, most places will require some form of proof of military service - like a military ID, VA card or discharge papers - to redeem available offers. All businesses listed are offering the deal or freebie on Veterans Day unless specified otherwise. 

Here's a list of businesses in Kentuckiana offering discounts and freebies this Veterans Day:

Applebee's: Active-duty military, veterans, reserves and National Guard that dine-in will get a free entrée from a special menu. 

Biscuit Belly: Veterans will eat free with a choice of a Bacon Egg & Cheese, Sausage Egg & Cheese, or Chicken Biscuit Sandwich and a hot drip coffee or fountain drink. Dine-in only. 

Bob Evans: The restaurant will be offering a special menu of seven homestyle favorites available to veterans and active duty military for free. Click here for a full list of eligible menu items. This offer is available for dine-in only, and a beverage isn't included. 

Bubba's 33: This Clarksville, Ind. restaurant is offering a free in-person lunch or raincheck voucher to veterans and active-duty miltary members on Saturday, Nov. 11. The vouchers are good until May 30, 2024.

Chili's: Veterans and active-duty military personnel can choose a complimentary meal from a select menu. Dine-in only. Proof of service is required.  

Circle K: One free cup of iced or hot coffee to all current and veteran military personnel, redeemed through the Circle K app.

Condado Tacos: The restaurant will be offering a free taco to all veterans who present a military ID. A purchase is required. Dine-in only.

Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steakburgers: All Veterans and active military personnel who visit Freddy’s on Veterans Day will receive a free Freddy’s Original Double with Cheese combo meal card. No purchase is necessary to receive this special offer. Cards may be redeemed through Nov. 30, 2023.

Golden Corral: All locations will be thanking active military and veterans with a free redeemable dinner (buffet & beverage) on Nov. 13 starting at 5 p.m. to closing. This offer is available for dine-in only. 

Hooters: Active and retired military can choose one free meal from a special menu that consists of: a 10-piece Boneless Wings, Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, Grilled Chicken Sandwich, Buffalo Chicken Salad, or Hooters Burger. Beverage purchase required. Dine-in only. 

Jaggers: The restaurant is welcoming all veterans with a free double cheeseburger, one side, and a drink. Proof of service includes military ID card, VA card, or discharge papers. 

Jiffy Lube: The multicare service centers located in the Louisville Area invite all active, retired and veteran military to their location for a special 50% off any oil change.   

The special promotion is valid at the following stores:

  • Jiffy Lube of Louisville (7106 Dixie Highway)
  • Jiffy Lube of Louisville (4180 Westport Road)
  • Jiffy Lube of Louisville (7395 Jefferson Blvd)
  • Jiffy Lube of Jeffersonville (3418 East 10th Street)
  • Jiffy Lube of Bedford (3240 John Williams Blvd)
  • Jiffy Lube of Radcliff (220 North Dixie Blvd)

Kentucky International Convention Center: All veterans are eligible for a 50% off discount. Tickets must be purchased onsite, and a Military ID is required. 

Louisville Zoo: Active and retired military members as well as immediate family get free admission on Veteran's Day.

McDonald's: Participating restaurants will offer a meal to all veterans, with a valid military ID, during breakfast hours. Veterans can enjoy one free breakfast combo meal, which includes hash browns and any size soft drink, tea or coffee.

Metro Diner: The restaurant is offering 50% off to active and retired military with valid military ID, and 10% off a meal year-round. 

Mike's Carwash: On Veterans Day all veterans and active duty military can get a free Ultimate Wash which typically costs $22.

Mission BBQ: Any active duty service members or veterans who come into Mission BBQ's St. Matthews and Clarksville locations can get a free sandwich of their choice (including the brisket!) and a piece of cake.

O'Charley's Restaurant & Bar: Veterans with a valid military ID can enjoy a free lunch from O'Charley's Veterans Day Menu or have a slice of pie at dinner on Friday, Nov. 10 or Saturday, Nov. 11.

Scooter's Coffee: All locations are offering veterans with a valid military ID a free handcrafted drink of any size on Veterans Day.

Shoney's: Veterans and active-duty military members can eat breakfast for free with a valid military ID at all locations. Choices include biscuits and gravy, chicken biscuits, doughnuts, scrambled eggs, bacon, pancakes and fresh fruit.

Speedwash Car Wash: On Friday, Nov. 11, Speedwash Car Wash is offering free car washes for veterans with a valid military ID.

Starbucks: The coffee franchise is honoring those who have served with a free tall (12-ounce) hot or cold brewed coffee for Veterans, military service members and military spouses who visit participating stores. 

Taziki’s Mediterranean Café: Is honoring veterans with ‘Gyros for our Heroes’. All veterans will receive a free Chicken Gyro.

YMCA of Greater Louisville: Veterans and their families are invited to visit any YMCA of Greater Louisville location, free of charge, during Veterans Day weekend.
