LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A southern Indiana singer is one step closer to being the next American Idol.
Monday night, America learned New Albany's Kennedy Reid and made the top 24 in the competition.
The 23 year old is originally from Sellersburg, and now lives in New Albany, where she's a funeral director.
WHAS11 News spoke with her just hours after finding out she was moving on to the next round.
When she talks about her roots in music, she points to Silver Creek High School.
"Then I started doing high school theater at Silver Creek High School, and some of my greatest memories were made in that theater department," Reid said. "And I really credit that time to me finding my love and passion for performing."
Now she's in the top 24 in Hawaii. You can watch to see how she does this Monday night, April 8th, on WHAS11.
There will also be a viewing party at Hunter's Station Pizza in Sellersburg on Monday.
