LOUISVILLE, Ky. — An Iroquois High School employee, who recently suffered a heart attack while on the job, is now back on his feet again.
Rob Taylor, an in-school security monitor and girl's basketball coach, stopped by the school on Thursday to thank his co-workers who helped save his life.
Ten days ago, he was called to respond to an "altercation" on the second floor of the building. He said he remembers walking out of his office but not much after that.
Taylor had a heart attack and collapsed to the ground, but thankfully the staff at the high school quickly sprung into action and began performing life saving CPR right away.
Eventually, staff members grabbed an AED machine and deployed it six times before EMS arrived to take Taylor to the hospital.
"Today wasn't about me, it was 'I came back because of my work family.' I wanted to make sure they get the pats and let them know that I am truly indebted to them for the act of heroism and I am so glad they gave me another opportunity to be with my family," Taylor said.
He said now that he's on the path to recovery, a huge goal of his is to be ready to return to work for the start of next school year.
