LOUISVILLE, Ky. — As health care workers continue to fight on the front-lines of the coronavirus pandemic, Masonic Homes Kentucky spent some times celebrating its employees Thursday morning.
Over 900 employees work tirelessly to help people of all ages at the assisted living facility's multiple campuses. Those arriving to the Louisville Campus were greeted with standing ovations, horns and signs thanking them for their work.
The Louisville Metro Police and Louisville Fire departments joined community residents from 5:45 to 8:45 a.m. to lift the spirits of those dedicated to helping patients and residents in need.
While the lights and noises are familiar, one resident said it was great to see them being used for something positive.
"We get a lot of ambulances out here....so the policemen, the cars here, just remind me of all of the emergency people who are out day and night," Resident Earl Miller said. "So we're here to thank them."
The homes will also have standing ovations during another key staff arrival time, 5 to 6:30 p.m. The campuses are closed to visitors as long-term health care facilities continue to fight the coronavirus, so residents and first-responders will continue the celebration.
