University of Louisville Hospital welcomes first baby of 2024

Jesse Mattingly and Desmond Gibbs welcomed their baby boy Kobe Gibbs at 5:40 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2024!

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The University of Louisville Hospital is ringing in the new year with a sweet bundle of joy! The hospital welcomed its first baby of 2024 early Monday morning.

Louisville parents Jesse Mattingly and Desmond Gibbs welcomed their baby boy Kobe Gibbs at 5:40 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2024.

Kobe weighed 10lbs. and 5oz. and was 22 1/4 inches long, according to the hospital.

"Starting off the new year with a precious young one is an inspiring way to ring in 2024," Lisa Bunnell, manager of labor and delivery at UofL Health, said. "We thank all the moms and dads for allowing our team to share their exciting expansion of their family."

Kobe Gibbs was born on Jan. 1, 2024 at 5:40 a.m. He weighed 10lbs. 5 oz. and was 22 1/4 inches long.

According to a spokesperson, UofL Hospital delivered more than 1,800 babies in 2023.
