LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Grab the hot cocoa and candy canes, Louisville’s lighting up for the holiday season on a new day this year.
Light Up Louisville returns on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 3-9 p.m.
The free annual event will welcome the community, including Santa Claus, to downtown Louisville to kick off holiday festivities.
Families can enjoy the Lots of Lights Parade, which will travel down Jefferson Street – or Santa Claus Lane – with dozens of brightly lit groups singing and dancing in the street. Then take a trip to Vendor Village on 6th and Jefferson Streets to find local food and craft vendors selling plenty of holiday goods and treats to warm even the coldest heart.
City officials said the Downtown Holiday Market will return to 4th and Jefferson Streets in the Aegon Plaza and surrounding areas. That market will take place from 2-9 p.m.
Once you’re all warmed up, enjoy live entertainment on either of the two stages this year.
The Main Stage will be in front of Metro Hall on Jefferson Street and the Jingle Stage will be in Jefferson Square Park.
Information about additional events, including when the city's Christmas tree will be lit, will be released later, officials said.
