LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Every year, kids across the Commonwealth and their families get dressed up to get some free candy in their favorite Halloween costumes.

From blockbuster looks from "Monsters, Inc." to "Terrifier," Louisvillians get creative every year when they dress up for trick-or-treating.

Here are the top five Halloween costumers in the Louisville area, according to Google's Frightgeist:

#1 Sulley (From "Monsters, Inc.")

It's no surprise the most trending Halloween costume in Louisville this year is a big, furry, lovable character like Sulley.

This star of the Disney classic Monsters, Inc. is instantly recognizable when the costumer-wearer walks into the room and the fur-covered onesie would definitely come in handy during the cold season.

#2 Red (From "Descendants")

Sticking with the Disney theme, one of the most iconic characters of the "Descendants" movie series is the second-most trending Halloween costume in the Louisville area.

The newest movie in the series, which came out earlier this year, is "Descendants: The Rise of Red," which follows Red, the daughter of the Queen of Hearts. Her eye-catching, all-red look is a popular choice this spooky season.

#3 Wolverine (From "X-Men")

This recognizable action hero with knives coming out of his hands has been a Halloween staple since Marvel's "X-Men" was first released in 2000.

Several movies have featured Hugh Jackman's Wolverine character since then, such as "X-Men: Apocalypse," "The Wolverine," and "Logan." It's no wonder Wolverine is an in-demand outfit this fall.

#4 Zombie

This is by far the most classic Halloween costume to make the top 5 list of trending costumes in Louisville. While there are thousands of zombie movies, it is much more common to dress as a general "zombie" than a zombie character from a film or show.

Zombie is also potentially one of the most DIY-able costumes. Rip up a few clothing items you don't care about and watch a zombie makeup tutorial and boom, you're a zombie!

#5 Art The Clown (From "Terrifier")

With the release of "Terrifier 3" and the clown star popping up in many viral memes, there has been a renewed resurgence in love for Art the Clown.

The demonic killer clown is a popular choice for Louisvillians. The creepy face mask would surely scare some unexpecting people this Halloween.
