LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A young woman tragically hit and killed in an accident in downtown Louisville in 2014 was remembered by friends and family during special run held near Bellarmine’s campus.
Ryann Tewell was hit and killed by a cement truck at the foot of the Clark Memorial Bridge.
More than 500 people participated in Saturday’s run and now her family is using the money raised from the event for a scholarship fund in Ryann’s honor.
“You don’t want your child to be forgotten. These folks coming out here in support of Ryann, having so many of Ryann’s friends, so many of our friends – just to have that support, it’s made this day a happy day for us,” Ryann’s father Charlie Tewell said.
The scholarship will be given to a Bellarmine transfer student since Ryann was also a transfer student.
Ryann’s family hopes to make the run an annual event.
