Amazon looking to hire 3,000 across Kentucky, 1,000 in Louisville

The retail giant is trying to fill 250,000 seasonal jobs across the country, including in Louisville.
The company could be liable for informing customers about unsafe products including carbon monoxide detectors, hair dryers and more.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — As the holiday shopping season approaches, Amazon announced it is looking to hire 250,000 workers nationwide, and thousands of workers from Kentucky.

The retail giant is trying to fill 3,000 full-time, part-time and seasonal positions statewide and 1,000 of those positions are in Greater Louisville.

The roles the company is trying to fill include warehouse jobs, delivery drivers, fulfillment center workers and store associates.

Many seasonal roles come with the potential to transition into regular, full-time employment after the holidays, according to an Amazon news release.

Amazon has already created more than 22,000 and 26,000 jobs respectively across Kentucky and Indiana. In total, the company has invested $43 billion in Kentucky and $25.5 billion to Indiana since 2010.

Earlier this month, Amazon announced its largest wage increase ever for hourly employees, which brought the average base wage to more than $22 per hour. All seasonal employees earn at least $18 per hour.

Seasonal employees who stay at the company are likely to see an average pay increase of 15% over their first three years, according to the news release.
