GE Appliances unveils new dishwasher manufacturing lines, creating 1,000 jobs: 'We are building a stronger state economy and community'

The lines were designed with the input from veteran employees and 3D scanning technology to make sure both the jobs and work stations are ergonomically friendly.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — GE Appliances officials unveiled the newest dishwasher manufacturing lines to Kentucky leaders on Wednesday.

According to a news release, the two lines complete the $450 million investment announced in 2021 for Appliance Park. Three of the five plants at the park have received "significant upgrades over the past two years."

“We are committed to U.S. manufacturing and Louisville, Kentucky,” President and CEO Kevin Nolan said. “From design to production, our team is always finding a better way to bring the latest appliance technology to homes and families across America. Together, with our state and local partners, we are building a stronger state economy and community.”

Part of the "latest appliance technology" is the company's use of artificial intelligence and real-time machine learning to power the company's new diagnostic feature called Smart Assist. It compares the latest dishwasher cycle with millions of others according to the release.

Gov. Andy Beshear said manufacturing is a key component of Kentucky's economy.

"The culmination of this incredible investment by GE Appliances will not only create thousands of job opportunities, but will further strengthen the commonwealth’s manufacturing sector and booming economy," he said.

The multi-million dollar investment adds 1,000 new jobs for Kentuckians.

"The investment is really an investment in our future," said employee Heather Collins. "The way that we're giving back to our community and what we can give out to our children. It's generations of work out here that we're going to continue to live on with and I love that."

The lines were designed with the input from veteran employees and 3D scanning technology to make sure both the jobs and work stations are ergonomically friendly. Employees also got four new filtration and cooling towers and a new cafeteria for them to use.
