Ford plant to shut down for several weeks amid semiconductor shortage

A spokesperson confirmed Louisville Assembly Plant will shut down the week of May 31 through the week of June 28.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Ford Motor Company announced another shut down for Louisville Assembly Plant due to the global semiconductor shortage.

A spokesperson for the company confirmed the plant will shut down the week of May 31 through the week of June 28. This comes after an announcement last week that the plant will be shut down the week of May 24.

Nearly 4,000 people are employed at Louisville Assembly Plant, which produces the Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair.

The plant has shut down multiple times this year, mostly recently for two weeks in April.

During the shutdown, workers receive 75% percent of their gross pay from unemployment paid by the state and supplemental unemployment benefits paid by Ford.
