LOUISVILLE, Ky. — It's reassessment time, and property taxes are expected to increase for thousands of homeowners in Jefferson County.

According to the Jefferson County PVA, the areas that will be affected include: Indian Hills, Butchertown, Crescent Hill, St. Matthews, Germantown, the Highlands, Hikes Point, Audubon Park, Klondike, Jeffersontown, Fisherville, Hopewell, Fern Creek, Seatonville and Glenmary.

The assessments are required by state law and happen every four years. The cost of Louisville homes are on the rise in several Metro zip codes, which would lead to a rise in property tax.

If you don't agree with your new assessment, you have a right to appeal from April 26 through May 20.
