Produce recall expanded; These products were sold at Kentucky Kroger, Walmart and Aldi stores

Many cucumbers, jalapenos, green beans and more products sold in Kentucky were recalled due to possible listeria contamination. Full list here.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A multi-state produce recall expanded this week to include additional produce sold in Kentucky and several other states amid concerns of possible listeria contamination.

Wiers Farm Inc. launched a voluntary recall on July 12 in Ohio. Since then, the company has recalled several more products in more than a dozen U.S. states.

According to the FDA, the products involved in the expanded recall were packed between July 5-12 of this year. So far, there have been no illnesses or consumer complaints reported. 

Here is the list of affected products:

Retail Packaged Items

Sold at select Walmart stores in Ohio, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia:

  • Wiers Farm Bagged Poblano - UPC 073064202581 – 16 oz bag
  • Wiers Farm Bagged Cubanelle - UPC 073064201836 – 16 oz bag
  • Wiers Farm Bagged Green Beans – UPC 073064200846 – variable weight bag
  • Wiers Farm Bagged Salad Cucumber – UPC 073064459619 – 2 lb. bag
  • Wiers Farm Bagged Serrano – UPC 073064201829 – 4 oz bag

The specific Walmart locations that sold the impacted products was not provided.

  • Mixed Vegetable Box (shipped to Cleveland and Youngstown, Ohio Foodbanks only)

In Kentucky, all of the above Wiers Farm Inc. bulk items were distributed to Walmart and Kroger.

Consumers are advised to discard any product associated with the recall.

Listeria symptoms can vary depending on the severity of the illness and symptoms may last from days to several weeks. Consumers who have consumed the affected product and are experiencing symptoms such as fever, muscle aches, and gastrointestinal issues should seek medical attention.
