LOUISVILLE, Ky. — All America Pool Co. on Dixie Highway has been in business for decades, but this season might be one for the books.
“We've actually been seeing some record sales,” said Dalton Pence, who is a third generation sales representative for the family business. “With more people at home, it kind of does make sense that above ground pools would trend upward.”
That’s the case for Joseph Duvall and his family of four. His backyard paradise in the form of an in-ground pool from Gym and Swim was installed at the start of May.
“It's nice, a lot more family time,” Duvall explained. “We’re not worrying about going anywhere, just stay in the house kind of like we're supposed to do.”
The pandemic has closed public pools through the start of summer, and Pence wonders if that could have also contributed to their spike in sales.
“With public pools it's just a question to see what all opens, and we’re trying to give them a little security, in terms of, you’ll have a pool up that’s going to last you hopefully a couple decades.”
Pence calls it a good year when they sell 100 pools or so a year. He said right now, they’ve sold about 70, with plenty of time left in the season.
“We've definitely been grateful and we hope the trend continues.”
Though shops are opening up, he said their store will continue to operate curbside for now, as not to cramp the showroom.
“We come out to your car and take your order, or take it over the phone.”
