Deputy Director of Bullitt County EMA killed in crash
Officials have responded to the scene of a serious crash in Bullitt County on Highway 44.

LOUISVILLE, Ky (WHAS11) -- The Deputy Director of the Bullitt County EMA has died after suffering severe injuries in a rollover crash.

Police say Les Bandy lost control of a marked EMA vehicle on Highway 44 near West Point in Bullitt County around 5:30 p.m. Thursday evening.

Bandy was heading home to Pleasure Ridge Park when his car overturned and flipped several times.

Bandy was taken to University Hospital with a severe head injury where he later died some time after midnight Friday morning.

On Friday around 10 a.m. Bandy's body was transported from University Hospital to Owens Funeral Home, located on Dixie Highway, with police and emergency responder escort.

The National Weather Service posted this statement on their website:

Like many in the Louisville Metro area this morning, we were shocked and saddened to hear that one of our trusted and active partners - Les Bandy, Deputy Bullitt County KY Emergency Manager - passed away last night from injuries sustained in single vehicle roll-over. Our condolences go out to Les' family.
