Metro Public Works orders 'construction hold' in parts of Louisville

Officials say the hold was put in place to help ensure the 150th running of the Kentucky Derby runs as smooth as possible.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A construction hold ordered by Metro Public Works will soon going into effect in parts of Louisville.

The moratorium will run from Friday, April 12 thru May 5. Officials say the hold was put in place to help ensure the 150th running of the Kentucky Derby runs as smooth as possible.

The following construction-related activities will not be allowed in the public right-of-way: Dumpsters, equipment, construction activities and materials.

This will largely impact the Central Business District in downtown Louisville, roads leading to the the track and a two-block perimeter around Churchill Downs.

Officials say all work must be completed with roadways and sidewalks open and cleared for pedestrians and traffic during the moratorium period.
