Hand-written cards from local elementary school students helped bring some holiday cheer to those in our community.
Students from Hawthorne, Hartsten, and Cochran Elementary schools wrote Christmas cards for families at the Healing Place.
Congressman John Yarmuth helped spread the gift of joy and love as he helped deliver hundreds of these personalized messages.
His "Holiday Cards for the Homeless" project enlists students from local elementary schools to create special holiday cards for Louisville's most vulnerable citizens.
"It's a wonderful thing because I know the kids get so much out of it they feel like they are making a difference at such a young age reaching out and understanding compassion and trying to make a difference in other peoples lives," Yarmuth said.
Congressman Yarmuth says these one-of-a-kind messages are also shared throughout the year with veterans and other organizations.
