LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A thanksgiving favorite returned to Shawnee Park Thursday morning.
Families gathered to watch and participate in the annual 'Juice Bowl.'
It kicked off with a parade full of marching bands, multiple clubs and an appearance by the Shawnee Golden Divas.
The Juice Bowl has been bringing west Louisville together for seven decades.
For many families, this event is a tradition to celebrate and highlight sportsmanship on the football field.
Rick Taylor said his family has been here since the beginning.
He hopes his relatives will honor him by participating for the next 70 years.
“When it’s my time to go, I want them to say, ‘he was, he was Mr. Juice Bowl,’” Taylor said.
Metro Councilwoman Donna Purvis said the bowl provides more than just entertainment.
It helps bring the community together and gives the next generation memories to hold onto all while having fun.
