LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The American Red Cross and the KFC Yum! Center are teaming up, asking the Louisville community to roll up a sleeve at the Hurricane Beryl Relieve Blood Drive.

The blood drive will be Thursday, Aug. 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the KFC Yum! Center in downtown Louisville. Blood donors are encouraged to register in advance to help the American Red Cross fill local demands.

Due to recent drastic shortfalls of donations over the last several weeks, donors of all blood types are critically needed, especially those with type O blood.

All donors will receive free parking, courtesy of The Parking Authority of River City (PARC) Center parking garage, accessible from entrances on Second and Third Street.

According to the KFC Yum! Center, all donors who give blood Aug. 1 to 31 will receive a $20 Amazon.com Gift Card by email.

If you're interested in participating, you will need to bring a blood donor card or driver's license. You could instead bring two other forms of identification at check-in.

Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental consent), weighing at least 110 pounds and in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also must meet certain height and weight requirements.
